It’s okay to be understanding and forgiving, but not at the cost of your well-being

Forgiveness and understanding are powerful tools that can facilitate healing, promote personal growth, and foster stronger relationships. When someone makes a mistake or hurts us unintentionally, offering forgiveness allows both parties to move forward and learn from the experience. Similarly, understanding allows us to empathize with others and acknowledge that their actions may stem from their own pain or struggles. However, it is crucial to distinguish between occasional missteps and a pattern of toxic behavior. Continuously giving someone who takes advantage of your kindness another chance can lead to a cycle of pain and disappointment. Recognizing these unhealthy patterns and acknowledging that they are detrimental to your well-being is the first step toward creating healthier boundaries.
